2012 Bourbon Barrel aged red wine - Oakville

The inspiration for this wine comes from the wonderful work that brewers are doing aging beer in bourbon barrels.  I worked with my brother, Dave Smith, head distiller at St. George Spirits who produces the B&E bourbon.  We tasted through over 100 barrels (harder work than you might think) to pick the ones destined to go into the Rickhouse Red program.  The fragrant bouquet of this wine offers up voluptuous, chocolate-infused cherries with hints of fresh pipe tobacco and cola.  The entire wine is over laid with flavors of molasses, butterscotch, and brown sugar courtesy of the wines time in used bourbon barrels.  The finish goes on forever!

Composition: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 8 % Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc

Alcohol:  15% by Vol

Initial Aging: 100% French Oak
Secondary Aging: 100% Breaking and Entering Bourbon Barrels

Production: 45 Cases (750 ml)
